Communities of Lugga village under Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State have thrown into mourning as a mad dromedary camel attacked his owner, Alhaji Auta Lugga, while trying to tight it, and killed him on the spot.
Speaking to our correspondent, an eye witness identified as Malam Bashir Malami Jabaka said, for over three years, the camel turned to a rampaging animal and usually used to attack his owner and sometime the commuters around the area.
He explained that having realized that the camel has become mad; the family of Alhaji Lugga advised him to sale it before it could harm people in the area.
“After Alhaji Lugga had agreed to sale the camel, he invited a butcher to buy it and after the bargaining, he sold it and fixed three days for him to come and take the camel,” Malam Jabaka explained.
Malam Jabaka noted that when the date reached and the butcher came to take the camel, luckily enough, the aggrieved camel came back from its normal day to day breading, then the deceased Alhaji Lugga approached it with a view to tighting it purposely for the final handing over to the butcher and the camel bite him on his neck and began hitting him on the wall until he died.
“The aggrieved mad camel ran into the nearby bush after killing of its owner, and the following day, some vigilante group members mobilized themselves and trailed the camel into the bush in which they trapped it and brought it back to the butcher to avoid any occurrence of such incident,” Jabaka said.
Our reporter gathered that the deceased had been buried according to Islamic right a day after the incident at the village.
