Aggrieved National Working Committee (NWC) of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) has suspended its National Chairman, Senator Saidu Dansadau and National Secretary, Chinedu Odenyi, for six months, over alleged anti-party activities.
But in a swift reaction, Mr. Odenyi said the purported suspension is rubbish.
A meeting attended by 25 state chairmen, Deputy National Chairman, Deputy National Secretary, National Youth Leader and National Welfare Officer in Abuja which deliberated on a report by some party chairmen detailing the alleged involvement of the two party leaders in various anti-party activities, decided to ratify the report and apply the stipulated disciplinary measure.
The meeting approved that the deputy national chairman and the deputy national secretary take over from the suspended officers.
Briefing newsmen at the end of the meeting, Engr Solomon Gokas said that Senator Dansadau was indicted in the chairmen’s report for declaring that the NRM has no Presidential Candidate after the name of Usman Ibrahim Alhaji was affirmed and forwarded to INEC as NRM Presidential Candidate.
He said the NRM Presidential Candidate, Usman Ibrahim Alhaji had since flagged off his campaign in Birnin Kebbi soon after launching the ‘Not Too Poor To Run’ national campaign to mobilize responsible citizens especially youths to get involved in politics and not be deterred by financial limitations.
While Senator Dansadau was not available for comment as his phone number was switched off, the National Secretary Chinedu Odenyi, said: “That is very stupid; did they read the Constitution? We have laws guiding us. I don’t understand what they mean. So it is rubbish.”
